Print monitor is unknown

PROBLEM:

You receive a "Print monitor is unknown" error when you try to install a printer driver on a computer running Windows Vista in order to connect to a printer which is attached to a different computer on the network or to a network printer hub.

SOLUTION:

Make sure that the printer is shown as shared on the computer to which it is attached.

Then go to the computer on which you are trying to add a new printer and:

  1. Go into the control panel
  2. Type UAC in the search bar then follow through the 'wizard
  3. Enable UAC
  4. Restart your computer when prompted
  5. Click on Add new printer and follow prompts
  6. Print test page to make sure the printer is installed
  7. Disable UAC

Enjoy
